Doppelganger

Behind the scenes here at _Gentle Reformation _we have a running joke about the "Doppelganger virus."  For those who do not know what a doppelganger is, the German literally means "double goer" and describes the case of a person taking on the identity of another.  Think identity theft and some of those Citibank commercials on TV where a grandma is talking like a thug boasting about his recent purchases on her credit card.

Well, I had the doppelganger sensation this week.  I was away this week at a presbytery conference and somewhat deliberately stayed away from the internet.  However, people kept coming up asking me things that did not make sense to me, such as:

Person 1: I hear you just read a 2700 page counseling book?

Me: Huh?

Person 1: And you are starting a D. Min. course?

Me: What?
Or:
Person 2: How do you  post on Gentle Reformation on Sunday mornings when you should be at worship?

Me: Huh?
After these and other humorous insistences that I was doing things I had no idea I was doing, I began to realize that Nathan Eshelman's first post on counseling  must have gone up under my Gravatar (the picture and self-description that accompanies our posts on the blog).  However, upon my return I find that everything appears in order here.

I will assume for now all this was just an honest mistake.  But just in case, remember it's not me but Wikipedia that defines a doppelganger as "a tangible double of a living person in fiction, folklore, and popular culture that typically represents evil."  Hmmm...
