Enough is Enough

Following the shooting in Colorado Springs at the Planned Parenthood clinic during Thanksgiving week, our president addressed this tragedy and ended his remarks with these words.

This is not normal. We can't let it become normal. Enough is enough.
Sadly, the president took to the airwaves again last night to speak to yet another senseless slaughter of our fellow citizens in San Bernardino.

As I have thought and prayed for him, our nation, and the church, his words above have stuck with me. We need to cry out and plead in prayer like the prophets of old. "Enough is enough."

Enough is enough of believing no correlation exists between the violence of the shooter at the Planned Parenthood clinic and the violence within. The poor victims killed by the shooter were innocent and should not have had their blood shed and lives ended so suddenly and tragically. So what about the unborn being taken into the clinic to be aborted? As Hosea said, "They sow the wind and they reap the whirlwind" (Hosea 8:7).

Enough is enough of trying to understand the mental state of the shooter - and blaming the tool he used in the violence - rather than acknowledging that it was his evil heart that brought the evil forth. "The heart is more deceitful than all else and is desperately sick; who can understand it?" (Jeremiah 17:9).

Enough is enough of a legal system that will allow such a man, whose actions were clearly witnessed by many, to live for years and even decades without facing the true punishment he has earned for his murders. The Lord "looked for justice, but behold, bloodshed; for righteousness, but behold, a cry of distress" (Isaiah 5:7).

Enough is enough of our leaders and the media defending the false religion whose founder used violence like that seen from 9/11 to San Bernardino to establish his movement while ridiculing the true religion of the Prince of Peace. "You shall say to them, ‘This is the nation that did not obey the voice of the Lord their God or accept correction; truth has perished and has been cut off from their mouth'" (Jeremiah 7:28).

Enough is enough of our country seeing the hostility of the nations of the earth mounting against it and not recognizing the hand of the Lord is bringing curses for disobedience upon us. "I will execute vengeance in anger and wrath on the nations which have not obeyed" (Micah 5:15).

Enough is enough of our leaders and politicians seeking to convince us that our financial strength and military can deliver us from our enemies. "You have plowed wickedness, you have reaped injustice, you have eaten the fruit of lies. Because you have trusted in your way, in your numerous warriors, therefore a tumult will arise among your people, and all your fortresses will be destroyed" (Hosea 10:13-14).

Enough is enough of praying for a moment when we hear of such threats and tragedies, then turning right back to our idols and pleasures. "Son of man, these men have set up their idols in their hearts and have put right before their faces the stumbling block of their iniquity. Should I be consulted by them at all?" (Ezekiel 14:3).

Enough is enough of God's people thinking we already have the wisdom, rather than needing to seek it, to understand the complexity of immigration in loving strangers and protecting our land at this unique time in history. "It is He who changes the times and the epochs; He removes kings and establishes kings; He gives wisdom to wise men and knowledge to men of understanding" (Daniel 2:21).

Enough is enough of the church, called to be salt and light at such times as these, welcoming the wickedness of this generation into its midst rather than standing in holiness against it. "Thus says the Lord God, 'Enough of all your abominations, O house of Israel, when you brought in foreigners, uncircumcised in heart and uncircumcised in flesh, to be in My sanctuary to profane it, even My house" (Ezekiel 44:6-7).

And enough is enough of believing there is any other Deliverer for the nations than Jesus. "I, even I, am the Lord, and there is no Savior besides Me" (Isaiah 43:11).
