3GT: Which Path?

The gents begin by discussing the contours of a credible profession of faith (with an eye on Trump).  Next comes a brief exploration of the ESV Permanent Text.  And lastly, we segue right into a discussion on the ethics of voting (and yes, with an eye on Trump again).

Section one ends at around the 29 min mark.
Section two ends at around the 37 min mark.
Section three ends at around, well, the end.

Thanks for talking about the election.

For the record, I won’t vote for HC. I’m very reluctantly leaning towards a DT, but as yet undecided.

A similar conversation is going on between conservatives generally. Beyond DT being a believer, many don’t think he is even close to being a constitutional, free market conservative.

In times like this, I try to understand who are the DT supporters and why are they attracted to him. Literally 5 minutes before listening, I read the last page of J D Vance’s “Hillbilly Elegy”. Although it makes no claim to help us understand the DT phenomenon, nor does it even mention DT’s name, I believe it is an important work in understanding the times and a big chunk of DT’s most loyal constituency.

Thanks, Jeff, for the reflections! I will check out the article!

While more could certainly be said, I cannot help but think that one of the main reasons for Trump’s ascendancy centers on the sentiment of many to kick government where it counts. Someone I work with (who is a big Trump fan) expressed this to me some time ago, and I thought it encapsulated well the frustration and rebellion many are feeling.
