A Plea For Concerted Prayer Against Political Correctness

Yesterday in the UK a story hit the headlines - a leading high street pharmaceutical company, Boots, became the center of a political storm and a media feeding frenzy.

In brief the story went something like this. Following recent legalization of the 'morning after pill', Boots, when approached, refused to lower the price of the abortion procuring agent, Levonelle.

Without commenting one way or other on potential commercial motives, Boots, it seems, then issued a press statement indicating their reluctance to offend public sensibilities by encouraging irresponsible use of this drug.

Pressure was brought to bear on main UK pharmaceutical retailers by the British Pregnancy Advisory Service. As a result, two other leading stores, Tesco and Superdrug, were happy to lower their prices to make the medication more freely available. All was being done, we are told, in the name of female freedom (with no consideration for the life drowned in UK latrines, and flushed away by Levonelle).

Subsequently, tension was ramped up by a number of Labour Members of the UK Parliament. They had signed, and then made public, a petition that called on Boots Chemists to reconsider their decision. Journalists then got hold of the 'story', and, having 'catastrophized the trivial', it still seems to have legs! Boots, we were told, have been accused of "moralizing".

How sad then, today, to see Boots "sincerely" apologize, 24 hours later, for what has now become their "poor choice of words". I haven't read the whole press release, or the precise language that was used. Nevertheless, and I hope I'm not being hasty, this, at least on the surface, would seem to be yet another unnecessary climb down forced by our Politically Correct Elite.

The Author of Life is doubtless grieved over how cheaply His loveless, hateful, creatures are able to mistreat one another. What pathetic ignorance and sickening arrogance is perpetrated and pedaled in this misguided, contorted, 'new morality' Crusade by the Politically Correct. Guilt, bondage, wickedness, infanticide and murder parade like peacocks behind a mask of pretended liberty and existential authenticity.

Where would any of us be without the light of Gospel truth? In speaking of the wicked how humble we should be! As John Bradford might have said "There go I but for the grace of God." Yet is this latest vicious outburst not fresh evidence of further just withdrawal of light, for now so long rejected? O Lord our Sovereign God, whose power is unlimited, and whose purpose cannot be resisted: may our lawmakers repent and our public bodies reflect!

Yet, we cannot stop there. We must go further. If callous, brute, beasts refuse to repent, pray that they would be pulled down, according to God's time and will, from their lofty peaks and sneering perches! Please send up a chorus this Sabbath to rid the Wild West of this and other blind Satanic deceptions! Pray also for those UK Members of Parliament, like Conservative Laura Perrins, who blogging on 'Conservative Women', wrote that condemning a pharmacy pricing system, was itself a form of "moralizing." Give thanks too, if a quick glance at a few of the tweets on the BBC website is anything to go by, for many ordinary members of the UK public, who have the insight to register their protest at the forced U-turn of Boots.
