Bigger Bloggers
Our children like to tell the joke, "Who is bigger? Daddy Bigger, Mommy Bigger, or Baby Bigger?" The answer? "Baby Bigger. He's a little Bigger."
As baby bloggers, all of us at _Gentle Reformation _are glad you stop by here to read our little blogger offerings. Yet we marvel at the much bigger resources bigger bloggers provide. The Lord has raised up an innumerable army of talented people offering resources in the virtual world of the internet. If used carefully, they can be a great source of evangelism, encouragement, and edification. The Blogroll to the right lists some of our favorites. I thought I would point out just a few of the helpful resources in bigger bloggers I've come across this past week.
Tim Challies offers a daily "Ala Carte" that is always worth reading. Somewhat like a Christian Drudge Report, he gives you links to news in the church, insightful articles by other bloggers, and displays of God's providences throughout the world. He also does frequent thought-provoking posts. Recently, an invitation to an internet discussion by well-known evangelical pastors to T.D. Jakes, who has heretical views of the Trinity that he's never renounced, has created a firestorm. Tim's analysis, along with links to other commentators, demonstrates his thoughtful manner .
David Murray regularly gives warm pastoral help in a number of areas, by writing and occasionally giving an audio or video commentary. As one caring for my mother and regularly visiting a dementia unit, I found this short video on "Serving Seniors" particularly helpful.
Thabiti Anyabwile of The Gospel Coalition has written a strong article about the trend in church planting of using video feeds for worship services. Just his title, "Multi-Site Churches Are from the Devil," gives you an idea what he thinks about it! Churches are more and more going to have to wrestle with the appropriate place of technology in the worship of God.
Having remembered again this past Lord's Day the horror of abortion, Al Mohler helped me see the implications that will follow if the killing is not halted by reviewing the Canadian case of infanticide.
One way you can minister to people in this digital age is by sending them an e-mail, Facebook message, or Twitter tweet with a link to something that is helpful. Why not take a moment and send one of these links or something else you read, heard, or watched recently to someone? Be sure to pray before you hit Send!
