The Westminster Conference: Soundly Preaching the Word of God
You are invited to attend the annual Westminster Conference sponsored by Reformed Presbyterian Theological Seminary this coming Saturday, September 8. The conference will take place at Memorial Park Church in Pittsburgh. This year's theme, "Soundly Preaching the Word of God", is drawn from the Westminister Larger Catechism's description of preaching.
Q. 159. How is the Word of God to be preached by those that are called thereunto?
A. They that are called to labor in the ministry of the word, are to preach sound doctrine, diligently, in season and out of season; plainly, not in the enticing words of man's wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit, and of power; faithfully, making known the whole counsel of God; wisely, applying themselves to the necessities and capacities of the hearers; zealously, with fervent love to God and the souls of his people; sincerely, aiming at his glory, and their conversion, edification, and salvation.
The four presentations that day are also based on the catechism, and I am excited about the other speakers the Lord is bringing to speak on this subject with me. The speakers and topics are:
Plain Preaching: Demonstrating the Spirit and His Power | Joel Beeke
Faithful Preaching: Making Known the Whole Counsel of God | Ligon Duncan
Wise Preaching: Applying Oneself to the Abilities of the Congregation | Michael LeFebvre
Zealous Preaching: Exercising Fervent Love for God and His People | Barry York
You can still register and join us for this time. You can go here to see the brochure, here for the schedule that day, and here to register.
In addition, my inauguration as President of RPTS will be held the evening before at 7:00 p.m. at Memorial Park Church with Dr. Ligon Duncan, Chancellor of Reformed Theological Seminary, giving the keynote address. You are invited to join us for that time as well.
Whether you come or not to any of these times, please pray for the Lord to be glorified and His people to be blessed!
