A Thankful Heart
A good way to start the day is by turning Psalm 103 into prayer!
This Psalm is all about the Covenant - its blessings (v1-5), LORD (v6-14), permanence (v15-19), and right responses (v20-22) to it.
This song is stirring stuff - it's meant to raise the soul to thanks. Why not turn the blessings section (v1-5) into heartfelt, prayerful, cries?
Thank-you LORD...
...for all covenant blessings your have purposed, in loving wisdom, for the safety, security, salvation and satisfaction of your people:
…for forgiving all my breaches, transgressions, deviations, and rebellions against your holy Law, despite your crucified love v3a
…for healing every malady that plagues my sinful flesh, removing spiritual deafness and blindness - for regenerating and renewing the heart, mind and will of this naturally dumb, lame, paralysed, lost son of Adam v3b
…for paying the ransom price, in the blood of my Kinsman, to lift me from the pit and snap-off the chains of sin, Satan, hell and death v4a
…for surrounding each step of my life on earth with sovereign grace, thus working all things for good to bring me home at last v4b
...for each kind, good gift, that you always get just right, from your fatherly covenant heart: your overflowing bounty, whether material, social or spiritual, both temporal and eternal, satisfies my heart and reinvigorates my youth, v5
Brother, believer, bow-down and bless the LORD!
