3GT Episode 122: The Lord's Presence in His Supper

The Apostle Paul asked, "The cup of blessing that we bless, is it not a participation in the blood of Christ? The bread that we break, is it not a participation in the body of Christ?" (I Cor. 10:16) Paul goes on to add that participation in the Lord's Supper is to show that the church is one.
Yet sadly and ironically, differences over the understanding of Christ's presence in communion often divide the church instead.

So the 3GTers address the subject of how believers participate in Christ's body and blood at the Lord's Table.  Just how is Jesus present when we commune?

After quickly taking off the table the Catholic and Zwinglian views, they especially focus on the commonalities and differences between the Lutheran and Reformed understanding of this topic. Luther, Calvin and especially Vermigli are referenced. Time is spent discussing how the proper understanding of the relationship of Christ's divine and human natures leads to a truer comprehension of what is taking place in the Lord's Supper. The Spirit's role in the meal is also highlighted. Practical applications are made.

If the next time you want to come to the Table with a greater appreciation and experience of how Christ is there, then join the guys on this episode of 3GT!
