Wedding Preparations

This morning we rose early with a growing sense of excitement. After breakfast we headed out with our daughter and fiance to sort their wedding reception out. We visited an hotel and checked-out accommodation and menus. We tried to envisage the entrance-hall with our to-be-newly-wedded couple sweeping in. As we turned our thoughts to the banquet, suddenly the big day started to seem more real. In the mercy of God, we can't wait to see glowing guests, as together we unite in joyfully celebrating our family marriage feast. One snag, of course, as we looked at the price, and calculated the expense, was the eye-watering potential cost -  if our parental devotion is great, I think we will have to spare some expense.

Not so, with the Lord. His commitment to saints in Christ is unsparingly infinite! On the morning that Jesus returns, believers' exhilaration will be total and complete. Without any further ado, the Lord’s own will be raised up. Those alive on that Day will be whisked up to the clouds. So we shall, together, be held tight in the holy embrace of the Love-Of-Our-Soul. This is the wedding reception that our God of Grace has planned. The Bride will glow with the reflected resplendence of our Groom. All will be robed in white in the glory of that feast. The food will be finest - guests' plates piled high with sweetest satisfactions of God's love: wine will flow with laughter as sorrows are drowned by song. The Father of the Groom will lavish blessing on chosen sons. The best part about this, of course, is that the bill is already paid - Calvary settled the costs and signed the legal invoice in His Son's own precious, suffering, divine, blood. Jesus paid our debt, so let His bride anticipate - look forward Christian, by grace, in faith, to a married life of wedded bliss in God's happier, holier, eternal, peace, joy and hope!
