A Blessing for Beleaguered Believers

My clumsy poetical attempt to help some hurting, disillusioned people feel seen, and to remind them most essentially of the love of our heavenly Father, who sees in secret . . .

May the lies you believed make you wise to achieve

The aims broken trust tried to steal.

May the watches you keep in the sloughs where you weep

Remind you that truth remains real.

May integrity bless you while deceits that distress you

Unravel as they strive to conceal.

May fears that devour you unwillingly empower you

As endurance adds knowledge to zeal.

May hope now deferred and vision now blurred

Behold, in tear-stained time, a heart that is ready to heal.

And from the Blessed One himself, “Come to me, you who are weary and heavy laden, and I will give you rest . . . cast all your care upon him, for he cares for you . . . be angry, and do not sin . . . be strong, and let your heart take courage, all you who wait for the LORD . . . set your mind on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God . . . Trust in the LORD with all your heart; lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your path straight.”
