3GT Episode 339: Assessing the Assassination

When the guys came to the regular recording time on Thursday, September 11th, they originally had some other topics in mind for this episode. Yet, given the assassination of Charlie Kirk the previous day, they hit the record button and shared their raw thoughts. Having hit "pause" since then to consider whether these thoughts would be helpful given all that has transpired, the team decided to make this episode public. The 3GT Team hopes this episode will add to the growing testimony of the Lord's work through one of his servants whose life was suddenly taken.

They begin their reflections by reminding their listeners of their previous episode regarding honoring Christians who have died. They discuss whether the murder of Charlie Kirk was a political assassination or martyrdom. The 3GTers then talk about the cultural phenomenon that Charlie was, and how it was that he was able to engage thousands of Gen Z youth. They recount how his conversion to Christianity had transformed Charlie, and how, in assessing people, we need to be careful to consider the whole context of someone's life. His role as a husband and father was emphasized. Charlie's courage and manner were highlighted.

As you see the response across the nation to this tragic event, hopefully, this episode of Three Guys Theologizing will help you process it.
