Household Worship Guide on the Desperate Cry of a Wounded Soul from Lamentations 3 + Response from Pastors

This week we will consider the Desperate Cry of a Wounded Soul and Let’s Examine and Probe Our Ways from Lamentations 3. At Springs Reformed Church we distribute a weekly guide running from the Lord's Day to Saturday with Monday-Wednesday reviewing the sermons that were preached the Lord's Day at the start of the week and Thursday-Saturday previewing the sermons that will be preached the coming Lord's Day.

However, for the posts here I am linking to the guide from Thursday to Wednesday so that all are aimed at the Lord's Day as the peak of the 7-day rhythm as seen in the image above. The Lord's Day post includes links to the sermons.

Thursday Lamentations 3:1-3 I Have Seen Affliction
Friday Lamentations 3:19-24 His Mercies Never End!
Saturday Lamentations 3:19-24 I Will Put My Hope in Him!
Lord’s Day
Monday Lamentations 3:1-18—The Lord is Against Me!
Tuesday Lamentations 3:19-24 His Mercies Never End!
Wednesday Lamentations 3:25-33—The Lord is Good

If you find it useful to use these in your household/family worship, consider asking your pastor to speak to me about him developing something similar in your congregation.

Thoughts for Pastors:

As I was developing this project, I requested several pastors to review the Why and How chapters in my Doctor of Ministry project on Worship Connected and review some sample weeks. My request was to then consider implementing the project for two – four weeks as a trial and answer some questions about the project.

One Pastor who replied was doing something similar and another considered implementing such a guide or something similar (and has since begun producing a weekly guide for his congregation).

Some positive evaluations of those who responded included the following:

Thank you for presenting this challenging and thought-provoking concept for helping people prepare for and reflect on the preaching of the Word and build more robust household worship.
I thought this was an intriguing and potentially useful idea.
Overall, I think this is a great idea and you've provided a very motivating and practical guide, easy for pastors to copy and paste or to stir up their minds to apply a modified version to their own ministries and congregations. Thanks!
